Non-radiation cross-sectional imaging

Cross-sections imaging is the best way the insides of a human body can be studied non-invasively. In simpler term, it is akin using a samurai sword and slicing the body into thin sections to be examined, sections by sections.

MRI is one of the modalities which is able to accomplish such task besides CT scan. More so, MRI does it without the use of radiation. The images are derived using a strong magnetic field generated by the magnet within the machine followed by the pulsing of radio frequencies. Returning signals from the tissue are reconstructed into images by complex computer algorithms.

MRI is most suitable for scanning of various organs in the body, especially for the brain, spinal cord, joints and soft tissue structures.
