Minimally Invasive Procedures

Just a nick on the skin ...

With image guidance, many minimally invasive procedures can be done. These include tissue sampling (biopsy), evacuation of fluid or abscess and even treatment of some diseases. Conventionally these procedures would require for patients to be operated under general anesthesia.

With image guidance, the patient is usually fully conscious or under conscious sedation. The entry point is numbed with local aneasthesia.

Other advantages of image guided procedure is improved accuracy, reduced healing time and cost-effectiveness. During image guided biopsy, the lesion and the biopsy needle can be observed in real time before a sample is taken. As the procedure is minimally invasive, healing is minimal and faster.
